Stratton GCSE results are best yet

Anxious wait is over for Stratton Upper students.

Once again students at Stratton Upper were celebrating the school's best ever results.

A massive 98 per cent of youngsters who sat exams managed to achieve at least one grade C or better, with 80 per cent managing five A* to C results and 56 per cent achieving five A* to C grades including the core subjects of English and maths.

Just one student left the school will no qualifications.

Headteacher Neil Bramwell said he was pleased with the results but added that he had been hoping for more improvement in maths.

He explained: "There has been a steady improvement in recent years and this has continued with a notable improvement in this set of results. Results in the core subjects of science and English are significantly better than last year and this has made an important contribution to the overall improvement.

"Achievement in Mathematics has remained steady, which has led to a smaller increase in the five A* to C including English and maths figure than we had hoped."

But he said that he felt confident next year's results would be even better with the clear direction that this year's set of results had given.
