Students help at sanctuary
College students have been helping out at an animal sanctuary.
The animal care students at Shuttleworth College undertook work experience at Nanna animal charity in Northamptonshire.
They took part in a variety of tasks including animal husbandry and basic maintenance.
The placement gave students a first hand insight into working within the sector, the challenges of running an animal sanctuary and the costs of irresponsible pet ownership.
Kayleigh Short, work placement co-ordinator, said: “Work experience is very important for young people’s development.
“Not only does it provide real industry experience but the students will gain vital social and personal skills such as team work and time management as well, which should aid their progression into the working sector or further training.”
Shuttleworth College has an open day tomorrow (Saturday, January 26) from 9.30am to 12.30pm. To find out more and to register visit www.shuttleworth.ac.uk
