Taxi driver followed and beaten

Did you see gang of men?

A taxi driver ended up in hospital with head injuries after he was followed by a group of men in three cars and attacked.

Detectives want to find witnesses to two incidents on the evening of Monday, March 1, which saw the taxi driver's car targeted twice by a group of men.

The first happened outside the Luton Community Gym in Dunstable Road at 6.30pm, when the the 31-year-old taxi driver was chased by a group of men of Asian appearance, one of whom attacked his car with a baseball bat.

Later the same evening, at about 10pm, the taxi driver was followed by men in three cars - a BMW X5, a Vauxhall Corsa and a VW Sharan.

They forced him to pull over in Durbar Road, which runs between Dunstable Road and Portland Road.

He was attacked and suffered head injuries, which needed hospital treatment.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Det Con Kim Willis, wants to trace any members of the public who witnessed either attack.

She said: "We are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind these incidents but it is possible that other motorists or pedestrians in each area may have noticed a group of men or the registration numbers of the vehicles involved."

Anyone with information about the incidents should contact Det Con Willis at Luton police station, in confidence, on 01582 394335, text 07786 200011, or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
