A headteacher and teacher directed two musical groups in a concert.

Steve Phillips, headteacher at Biggleswade Academy Trust: Holmemead Middle School directed the City of Cambridge Brass Band at the charity concert.

Teacher Cate Lawson led the Holmemead Middle choir and orchestra at the event, which took place at the school.

The Biggleswade Sandy Lions Club hosted the concert.

The evening included a wide variety of musical genres, as numbers from the band and orchestra were interspersed with songs from the choir.

The band opened the concert with a rendition of Let’s Face the Music and Dance by Irving Berlin.

Joanna Cambrey-Young demonstrated the versatility of the tenor horn with a solo of Goodbye to Love by The Carpenters.

There was also a Disney medley, where the audience were asked to guess the films which the musicians were paying tribute to.

Chariots of Fire, Amazing Grace and a James Bond medley were heard in the second half.

The club has given particular praise to school soloists Oliver Dilley, Vickie Smithers, Hannah Penwright and Zoe Fung.
