Tesco construction work set to start

The construction of a new supermarket will begin within a fortnight.

Tesco has confirmed that preparation work has begun in Sandy, clearing rubble before building work can start.

Sandy’s mayor, Susan Sutton, said: “We welcome the news that the construction work is now about to begin and we look forward to working with Tesco as the company becomes a local employer.”

Simon Petar, corporate affairs manager for Tesco, said that the shop should be open by the end of the year and that the chain is looking forward to serving Sandy.
