Get ready to party!

The much loved biennial Party on Potton is back this August.

There will be a whole host of events other the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The fun kicks off at 7pm on Friday, August 22 with a Game Show Mash Up with Battle of the Ages.

Then at noon on Saturday, August 23 there will be a carnival parade on the theme of Through The Decades.

Accompanied by the Arco Iris Samba Band and Sound Express Swing Band, it will leave from Kitchener’s Yard on Willow Road, proceed along Everton Road and King Street, continue through the market square and stop at the Henry Smith Playing Fields at 1pm.

The parade will be greeted by the sounds of East Beds Concert Band.

At 1.10pm there will be a fancy dress competition in Kids Zone Marquee. Dress as a historical character.

Cambridge Community Samba Band will play the loudest and hottest of Brazilian carnival rhythms at 2pm and at 3pm there will be a dog show. Just turn up to join in.

From 1pm to 5pm each day there will be other entertainment including high ropes, circus skills, a giant beach sand pit, storytelling and a vintage car rally.

Sound Express Swing Band will play from 7.30pm til late.

Sunday, August 24 will start with a Churches Together service in the playing fields. From noon there will be a posh picnic to the accompaniment of Sound Express jazz band.

Throughout the afternoon you will be able to try your hand at traditional crafts including lacemaking and basket weaving. There will be a Las Vegas night, for over 18s only, from 7.30pm.

The final day, Monday, August 25, will begin with a 5k fun run at 10am and also an off road bike ride, plus a football tournament.

A Potton History Society Walk will begin from the main marquee at 10am.

From noon there will be activity sessions from local clubs including Zumba.

Then at 12.30pm spectators can see the Alice Lucas School of Ballet perform.

The skate park competition will start at 3.30pm.

The weekend will round off with Potton’s Got Talent, which begins at 7.30pm.

Entry to the evening events are by ticket only. They are £12 for adults and £5 for under 16s from Cameron Newagent and the post office.
