Trees will be saved

editorial image

Two trees have been saved from destruction after community members fought to save them.

The cedar and wellingtonia trees in the garden of the Old Rectory in Little Gransden are now protected by a Tree Preservation Order.

South Cambs District Council’s planning committee went against the recommendations of planning officers to confirm the order.

They decided that felling the trees would have an unacceptable impact on the Conservation Area.

The trees are causing movement in the house, which is listed. It will have to be underpinned.
