A wildlife artist is holding an exhibition in her home town.
Clara Nicoll, who moved to Sandy four months ago, will display her work at Mama’s Coffee Shop in Sandy High Street. Around 10 of her works will be displayed, all featuring birds, ranging from a violet greenear hummingbird to the more local robin.
Clara, who lives in Bedford Road, bases her pictures on the photographs her husband, a twitcher, takes but she has also seen the birds in real life.
She said: “My husband is so into birds that I’ve go into them! I’ve always painted and I also do portraits.”
When she is not pursuing her artistic talents Clara works as a graphic designer and illustrator.
She has previously held exhibitions in Herts and London plus her paintings have been in business magazines.
Clara specialises in watercolour, acrylic and charcoal.
She added: “I’m hoping my work will appeal to both bird watchers and non-bird watchers and I’d welcome any tips on local birds I could paint in the future.”
Visitors can meet Clara at Mama’s on Thursday (September 12) from 6pm to 9pm. To attend email her at email@example.com
The pictures will be on display and available to buy from then until October 30.
