Two sisters Food Group denies breach of hygiene regs
A major food group and three senior employees are to stand trial accused of breaching hygiene regulations at a factory near Stowmarket.
Two Sisters Food Group Ltd, at Haughley Park, near Stowmarket, is charged with two offences under the 2006 Food Hygiene Regulations Act and one offence contrary to the 2004 General Food Regulations Act.
It is alleged that the company, which supplies cooked meats to leading supermarket chains, failed to comply with a Remedial Action Notice issued by Mid Suffolk District Council.
Yesterday at Ipswich Crown Court the company pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Its regional manager, Rose-Marie Emmerson, 37, of Church Road, Stainforth and assistant general manager Emerson Lima, 32, of Pintail Road, Stowmarket pleaded not guilty to being responsible for failing to comply with the Remedial Action Notice issued by council officials last July.
The notice required the company to reduce the shelf-life of cooked, chilled and modified atmosphere products to a maximum of 10 days.
A third employee, technical director Mark Field, 45, of Elmsett, Somerset, has also denied failing to comply with the notice.
Judge Rupert Overbury said the trial would begin begin on July 15.
