Volunteer and save a life
THE ambulance service is urging people to show that they have a heart this Valentine’s Day by volunteering.
You can pledge to save lives in the community by becoming a community first responder for the East of England Ambulance Service.
A responder is sent to a potentially life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance response arrives on the scene. They will live or work within four minutes of the emergency.
They will help stabilise the patient and keep them alive until the paramedics arrive.
Bedfordshire’s community partnership manager, Steve Catley, said: “If you care enough to get another heart started again – and help save a life – this is the ultimate gift.”
There is a one day training course. To find out more call 01767 600822 or visit www.eastamb.nhs.uk/community-first-responders.htm
