Weather was snow big deal for volunteers
Lee Janes, Scott Dale Malloy and Grant Dale Malloy clearing snow in Sandy
ON Sunday everyone awoke to scenes of snow covered gardens, slippery footpaths, snowball fights and difficult driving.
For some it was an excuse to stay inside with a good book or DVD but others had plenty of work to do.
The Diamond Jubilee Community Volunteer Task Force, organised by community stalwart, Ken Lynch, cleared the pathways to 72 homes in Sandy and Biggleswade, including at Stonecroft sheltered housing in Sandy and Northfields sheltered housing in Biggleswade.
Lee James, 22, Scott Dale Malloy, 16 and Grant Dale Malloy, 18, volunteered. Sergeant Steve Cascoigne, corporal Mark Jewell, corporal Ryan Cook and corporal Jason Rush from RAF Police all stepped in to help on the day.
The Midshires Search and Rescue Organisation also assisted.
The completely free service enabled elderly people to leave their homes when they would otherwise have been kept in by the snow.
If you can help next time it snows then call Ken on 01767 681739.
