Young girl organises life celebration for terminally ill mum

11-year-old hopes to raise cash for St John's Hospice.

A cancer sufferer's young daughter is determined to raise money for the hospice that has helped her mother.

Jae Rutter, who is only 11 years old, is organising a life celebration party in mid-September. All proceeds will go to St John's Hospice in Moggerhanger.

By raising money she wants to thank the staff for the help they have given Natalie Maskell, of Belam Way in Sandy, who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Jae said: "We have decided to hold a charity event in celebration of my wonderful mum and the 35 years she has lived.

"I love her so much, along with everyone who knows her, and will miss her unbelievably when she is gone. She's an amazing woman and has been strong throughout all that has happened.

"This party is the least we can do to recognise how extraordinary she is and that she will never be forgotten. It would be great to know that we can help future cancer sufferers get as much love and care as my mum has been given."

Despite having a double mastectomy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and taking the anti-cancer drug tamoxifen, Natalie was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2006. This has now spread to her brain.

Money will also be raised for Lister Hospital in Stevenage, where Natalie received treatment.

Jae said that it would mean a lot if people would donate to the auction.
