An entrepreneur is starring on a Channel 4 television show.

Max McMurdo, who owns Sandy company, Reestore, will be on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces next week.

He attracted the show’s attention when he built an eco office from a shipping container.

Five years ago the 35-year-old planned his shipping container office but it was not until he bought his cottage in Eaton Socon that he was able to bring it to life.

Max said: “I had recently renovated my cottage and I had a large empty garden so I thought why not just build it! I wanted it to be contemporary and desirable but to keep the original forms so I chose not to clad the sides and hide the container but to be proud of its heritage.”

It took him eight weeks to build. It has bi-fold doors and solar panels.

Max added: “I thought it would be similar to making the upcycled furniture like the bath tub sofas and shopping trolley chairs but as it was our first time we had to find suppliers and pull it all together in time for the show.

“It was crazy at times and we didn’t always get a lot of sleep but we did it!”

In 2007 Max featured on Dragons’ Den and received funding from Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden. Since the show he has been building his business and he now counts The Body Shop and Google among his customers.

Max has also been working with Sandye Place Academy, which he used to attend, to build an eco classroom from a shipping container.
