Pupils focused on Jesus as the light of the world on Friday.
Henlow Academy’s Christingle service was held at St Mary’s Church in Henlow.
Prior to the service the children learnt about the significance of the Christingle and made their own Christingles.
They then walked to the church where they participated in a short service led by science teacher, Mrs Welsford.
Mrs Welsford said: “We wanted to hold a Christingle service in the new year because it really encourages pupils to think about the significance of Jesus being the light of the world after all the excitement of Christmas. The children had a lovely time making the Christingles themselves and seeing the candles all lit up in the church was just magical.”
The service was in support of the Children’s Society.
