Three cheers for fast approaching carnival

Carnival day is fast approaching so make sure the date is highlighted in your diaries.

Sandy Carnival is being held on Saturday, June 14. This year the carnival parade will return to its original route. The theme for 2014 is Anything Goes.

The procession will assemble in All Saints Way at 12.30pm. The floats will be judged before the parade begins at 1.30pm.

Leaving All Saints Way, the floats will process into Western Way, London Road, West Road and St Neots Road. It will then make its way through the town, turn into St Swithun’s Way and return through the market square before crossing Park Road and ending in the car park at Sandye Place Academy.

The arena events will take place at Sandye Place. The parade trophies will be awarded at 2pm. This will be followed by the majorettes at 2.15pm, Jazzercise at 2.30pm, twirlers at 2.45pm and Zumba dancers at 3pm. At 3.15pm it will be time for Disco Duck and Biggleswade Dance School will take centre stage at 3.30pm.

Sandy Karate Club will be at 3.45pm and at 4pm there will be a Medieval tournament. The carnival will end with the raffle draw at 4.45pm.

Throughout the afternoon there will be stall and refreshments.

The raffle winner will take home £100. Other prizes include a patio pack, a free MOT, computer accessories, confectionery hampers, hair products, toys, wine and numerous vouchers, courtesy of local businesses.
