VIDEO: Singer wins Bedford's Got Talent!
Singer Ashley Green has been crowned the first ever winner of Bedford's Got Talent.
The Riseley man wowed the judges and the audience at Bedford Corn Exchange on Saturday night with his versions of Red and You Raise Me Up.
A total of 20 acts took part in the grand final, organised by the Times & Citizen and sponsored by Allen Sturges Travel.
The judges were Paul Gibson, managing director of Premier Newspapers, Bedford singer Cherry Lee Mewis, and Ronnie Findlay of Allen Sturges Travel.
Once they had all performed a total of five were put forward - Barber Shop Quartet Any Other Business, Beat Boxer Manik Lowe, Girl dance Group Execute, and soloists Guiseppe Barile and Ashley Green.
Ashley then scooped the audience vote and the top prize.
Paul Gibson said: "The crowds reaction to the large variety of acts was testament to the level of talent on display. During the auditions I was surprised and delighted by just how good the contestants were. It made the job of judging very tough."
Cherry Lee Mewis added: "I hope Ashley puts himself out there now and gets himself some gigs - I'll look forward to seeing him perform at the River Festival!"
