Wider footpath needed

A petition has been launched to make a footpath safer.

Sandy’s Central Beds councillors, Councillors Caroline Maudlin, Nigel Aldis and Naomi Sheppard, have created a petition.

The petition is to encourage Central Beds Council to enter negotiations with Greene King about a small section of the car park at The Bell pub in Station Road, Sandy.

If Greene King allows Central Beds Council to widen the footpath by 80cm it will make it possible for double buggies and mobility scooters to get by.

There are more pedestrians using the path since Tesco opened last year. The path also leads to the train station and this particular section is opposite the station.

The petition can be signed online until Monday, January 20 at http://bit.ly/1eHglzj and it will also be in Tesco in a paper format.
