Yvonne’s action is a cut above call of duty

A fundraiser lopped off her golden locks to add to a coffee morning’s proceeds.

Yvonne Beith, 42, had her head shaved during the coffee morning at Handley Court in Sandy.

She is friends with the court’s manager, Jane Jenkinson, and she decided to undertake the head shave to boost the charity coffers.

Yvonne, of Church Street in Tempsford, said: “It was quite funny to watch the people around me. They looked more scared that I did!”

She said that this has given her an appreciation of what it is like to go through chemotherapy and lose your hair.

She added: “Quite a few family members have died of cancer. The Macmillan nurses deserve every penny they get.

“Everybody’s touched by it and I think it’s a very good cause.”

Yvonne raised £980 from having her head shaved and the well supported coffee morning added a further £166.

Her hair was cut by Jean Holt, manager of The Salon in Biggleswade, who has since offered Yvonne a free hair cut when her hair grows long enough to trim.

And in the meantime the knit and knatter group at Handley Court has promised to keep Yvonne well supplied with woolly hats during the winter.
