Ladies football team 'weatherley'd' competition at 60's Biggleswade Carnival!
A reader who followed our Made in Biggleswade feature has sent us these two photos of the Weatherley Oilgear ladies football team when they won the five-a-side football competition at the Biggleswade Carnival in the 1960's.

In the second photograph, Doreen Vintner, captain, holds the cup aloft which was presented by Maureen Lincoln, carnival queen on what was described as an 'exciting' day.

Reg Haynes who contributed memories to our Made in Biggleswade feature on Weatherley Cincinatti has contacted Memory Lane to clarify that it was a small box of broach tools that were worth £30,000.

"Bright mild steel was 6d a lb but tooled or high speed steel was 10' 6d per lb, so you had to be careful with it."

Reg was also friendly with Mr Hunt, mentioned in last week's follow up.

These follow ups appeared in an autumn issue of Memory Lane.
