Shefford dinner ladies in the mid '60's

"Note the stiff starched white cotton overalls" says Pat Leath who is pictured at the far right of the back row in this photo of dinner ladies at Shefford Lower School.

It was taken in October 1965, almost exactly 43 years ago.

"Fortunately we didn't have to wash them ourselves but got a clean one each Monday."

The cheery ladies are back row: - Gray, Barbara Bland, Nell Smyth and Pat herself; front row: Beth Walker, Jean Pedley, Mrs Odell, Mrs Coutts and Ethel Cain.

Thanks go to Pat for sending the photo in.

This story appeared in an autumn issue of Memory Lane.
