These were the Biggleswade Carnival Queen contestants in 1956.

Sent in by Janet Anderson, nee Munsey, who now lives in Omaha, Nebraska
, the glamorous group in the front row from left to right are: no. 85 Maisie Chapman, no. 82 Ruth (Pam) Newton, no. 83 Janet Kitchener, no. 91 _, no. 79 _, no. 88 Jean Rook, no. 87 Sylvia Auburn, and no. 86 Janet herself.

In the back row Janet recognises Anne Robins and Betty Nottingham second from left.

The second photograph shows Janet, who was crowned 1956 Biggleswade Carnival Queen with 1955 Queen Angela Norman.

Both photographs were taken inside Georges Hall, Biggleswade at the grand carnival dance organised by the Biggleswade Entertainments Committee.

Janet said: "Rex Huckle was the MC and the judges were professional ballroom dancers Vic Mansfield and Dinah Smith of Edgware in London who gave us a demonstration."

Thanks go to Janet. Were you one of the contestants or do you recall the evening?
