College principal says GCSE results match last year

Anxious students at Clifton were overjoyed with their GCSE results this morning.

Principal Rob Robson at Samuel Whitbread Community College said that the results matched last year's success, with the pass rate estimated at 67 per cent.

He said: "I am happy with the results. We did as well as we were expecting to do. We had more students with straight A grades, so congratulations to them.

"Three students got 11 As and A*s, so that's fantastic. There were a lot of happy faces, which is great to see."

High flyer Catherine Cunningham, 16, of Stotfold, was overjoyed to have received seven A stars and four As.

She said: "I fell very excited. I was expecting to do well, but not this well, I'm still shaking.

"I am over the moon about it. It did take a lot of work, I revised hard and put a lof effort into my coursework. I now plan to stay on and do A-
levels.

And 16-year-old Emma Vosper got three Bs, four As and four A stars.
The delighted teenager said: "I'm in shock. I didn't think I had done this well.

"It was a very nervewracking wait. But my mum joked she would give me £200 if I got a B in maths becuase we thought I'd get a D, but I did really well."
