Carnival court 2008 selected

Carnival Queen Sibretta Lee Cuzner will be fulfilling a childhood dream when she heads this year's grand parade.

The 20-year-old, who lives in Hitchmead Road, Biggleswade, was picked from the bevy of beauties who competed for the carnival crown at an event on Friday by a panel of judges including Biggleswade beat officer Pc Ian Wilson, town mayor Peter Vickers and Macmillan nurse June Leonard.

She said: "It was something that I'd always wanted to do. I remember being a little girl and seeing my cousin do it and it just went from there."

Joining her will be senior princess Penny Chamberlain, 13, who goes to Holmemead Middle School and enjoys ballroom, latin and disco dancing.

This year's Princess of the Lights is Chloe Nicholas, eight, who attends Lawnside Lower School, while the Carnival Prince is six-year-old James Keller, who likes football, golf and Star Wars.

For pictures and the full report see the April 25 edition of the Biggleswade Chronicle.
