Event returns to village for first time since 1991
Hundreds turned out to welcome the Willington Fun Run and fete back to the village for the first time since 1991.
The event on Saturday was organised by Willington Youth Forum and was the group's first major event.
It hopes to raise cash for a new youth club and facilities for youngsters.
Project co-ordinator Daniel Silson, 25, said: "We had about 300 people and 64 runners and we've raised somewhere in the order of £230.
"I don't think anyone was disappointed and people keep coming and saying how much they enjoyed it. It's put the youth of Willington in a good light."
He added that the forum hopes to organise more events in the future.
Frosts sponsored the run and the winners were Tom Parker, the first man over the finishing line, Emma Parker, who won the women's run, and Jamie-Leigh Kester, who was the first junior past the post.
