One Biggleswade student speaks of taking exams - and waiting for results
Stratton Upper School student Alexandra Dawson offers her thoughts on waiting for GCSE results

That one day that scares every teenager in the country. Results Day. Teenagers feeling sick at the thought of having to open that envelope to reveal, what could potential be the key to success for the rest of your life.

The summer holidays are here, however, you'd think we would be enjoying them? With the weather not helping our moods, there is the constant worry of our dreaded exam results, making this summer very difficult to enjoy. The ongoing worry in the back of our minds of wondering, and fretting if we did indeed pass Math, English and Science, which to be honest, is becoming pretty unbearable.

Don't get me wrong, my family have been an incredible support throughout the ordeal, and with my friends, I'm lucky to have not gone completely insane.

Although, with our parents demanding that we get a part-time paid job as soon as possible, it seems to add even more stress onto our "innocent" and "fragile" minds.

The words "you did fine, don't worry," does not in fact help, yet just reassures your concern of disappointment for yourself, yet even painfully, disappointing your parents.

I find it crazy how 11 years of education all mounts up to these final dreaded exams, which, lets be honest, are over and done with in the space of a month?

The constant revising, attending ever last minute revision class, all of those late nights and tiring early mornings, all amounting to this one month of exams, and the trouble of remembering what your stupid candidate number is? Remembering to write in black ink, not blue, and overall, once the exam is done, becoming angry and bitter, due to the stuff you revised not actually turning up, in the tedious exam!

So, with two weeks to go until the dreaded results day, how do you think you have done? Are you excited, or would rather collect your results with a paper-bag over your head?

Will you be crying with joy, or annoyed that you know you should of worked harder? The big question to ask is, were the endless late nights and dreadful early mornings, really worth it?

Though the last 2 years have been hard work, I think we would all admit we have had some fun along the way. We have met friends for life. Learnt a lot about ourselves. And grown, even if just a little.

My advice to younger years. Enjoy school. I won't admit it much, but it is true what adults say.

School really is the best time of your life.
