Group creates hilarious spoof of hit TV show in search for new organiser
You're hired! A new boss has been chosen to take the reins of a popular children's holiday club – and was introduced in an Apprentice-style video.
Instead of impressing Sir Alan Sugar, Mark Thomas was 'hired' by Ian Brady – who is giving up his role as organiser of St Andrew's Church Holiday Club after five years at the helm.
And the spoof that sees Mark battling against other would-be apprentices, which is now available on video sharing website YouTube, was the brainchild of Richard Thackray, son of the Rev William.
Ian said: "After an extremely fun packed five years I feel it is time to hand over the organisation of St Andrew's Church Holiday Club to inject some fresh thoughts and energy – a change is as good as rest.
"It is a place for youngsters to come and make new friends, step out of their shell building confidence in themselves and really make a lot of noise having fun in drama, singing, sport and arts and crafts.
"I am pleased to hand over the reigns to Mark Thomas, who has plenty of experience in youth work and is very enthusiastic in injecting some fresh thoughts and new energy working with the team and the kids."
The official handover during last Sunday's Holiday Club family service at St Andrew's Church saw the video being screened in front of the congregation.
Richard Thackray, 21, said: "Quite a lot of people came up to me and said it was the best part of the service."
Mark added: "I've been involved for the last couple of years now, my son attends the holiday club. I'm excited about the prospect. It's a brilliant format and we've got a brilliant team, it's not just a one man show."
And he joked: "I think the right man was chosen at the end of the day."
St Andrew's Church Holiday Club? That's what I'm talking about!
