Southill Cricket Club photo of 1922-23
Barrie Marshall, who lives in Yorkshire, was "very amused" by Memory Lane's photo of Southill Park Cricket Club taken in 1922-23 (published April 3, 2009) which he describes as being a "unique picture". Please click on the link.

Barrie was a playing member and subsequently scorer for the 1st XI, and an avid follower of the club in later years.

Said Barrie: "I would love to know all the names of the team as I am sure at least one of my uncles (of whom two were into sporting interests) may be in there."

Also noted by Barrie is what looks like the portable changing room and scorebox, and he points out that the man in the centre of the front row – believed to be 'Toddler' Millard from Meppershall – appears to be rolling a cigarette.

John Gudgin, who originally sent us the photo, attends a social club in Shefford and has been told by another member that Hector Burnage appears standing at the far right of the photo.

Perhaps more names will come to light in due course.

This photo appeared in Memory Lane on June 5, 2009.

What is the future of our special schools?
Keep them, they do a great job
Merge them, it's the way forward
Close them and integrate into mainstream schools
