BEDFORDSHIRE LEAGUE: Smith brace fires leaders Blunham to victory

Just nine of the scheduled 31 games survived the weather at the weekend.
It was business as usual in the Sportsform Premier with league leaders Blunham, having trailed at half time to a Chris Winder goal at Caldecote, bounced back to win 2-1 thanks to a brace of goals from Andy Smith.
Second-place Ickwell & Old Warden run out 4-2 winners at Campton. Anup Kalyan giving them a half time lead which was increased to 3-0 thanks to strikes from Andrew Vallom and Gary Fil.
The home side replied through Andrew Hayday and Gary Gibson but a Nick Cooper goal seven minutes from time secured maximum points for the visitors.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Renhold United beaten 4-2 at home by Woburn. Martin Holland gave the visitors the lead until strikes from Chris Huckle and Paul McKeaveney put United 2-1 ahead.
Woburn, with a goal from Chris Allam levelled matters before the break, while late strikes from Steve and Lewis Murray won it in the second period.
In Division One, Meltis Albion netted a 4-1 home win over Kempston despite visiting goalkeeper Tom Buck saving home penalties from Salvetore Ventrigria and Charlie Betts.
Goals from Ventrigria, Darren Ashpole and Daniel Wells saw The Albion 3-0 ahead at the break. A strike from Alex Goosby gave Kempston hope until Tom Hughes netted the fourth home goal three minutes from time.
Elsewhere, Blunham Reserves and Caldecote Reserves shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Roy Anderson for Caldecote and Garth Thomas for the home side netting in the opening half and, when Mark Davidson placed Blunham 2-1 ahead with 10 minutes to go, it looked all over. However that was until Aiden Jones levelled matters in the last minute.
For Division Two league leaders Bedford Hatters, it was an easy 7-1 home win over Great Barford. Tom Redmond hitting a hat-trick, Scott Alleyne weighing in with a brace alongside strikes from Aran Izzard and Danny De Foe.
The lone reply coming via a Stan Hobbs penalty just 15 minutes from time by which stage they were already 5-0 down.
Hatters are now six points clear at the head of the league standings after second place Potton Wanderers were held to a 3-3 draw at Marston Shelton Rovers.
Two goals from Danny Fox shot Wanderers 2-0 ahead but a strike on 35 minutes from Antony Henman and another 20 minutes into the new half from Zennon Paul levelled matters.
The visitors then regained the lead five minutes later with a goal from Joe Harrington, before they were reduced to nine men when Fox and Dave Trundley were given their marching orders.
This allowed Rovers to salvage a point when Charlie Standish netted eight minutes from time.
The lone Division Three game saw Caldecote A record a 3-2 home win over Sandy Reserves.
