Biggleswade begin Hunts League with nine wicket win

Biggleswade opened their Hunts League Division Three campaign with an emphatic victory over nine-man Alconbury at Fairfield.

Town put their visitors into bat and Adam Gauge took an early wicket.

Alconbury rallied, Abu Bukar and Sid Davis putting on 57 for the second wicket, but when they were gone the side fell to 101. Gauge ended with 3-19 off nine overs, Kelvin McFarlane mopping up the tail with 3-11.

The Biggleswade reply was swift and decisive. Adam Dagless fell for 11 but Conor Smith (42) and Adam Lawrence (41) steered them home with nine wickets in hand inside 18 overs.

In Division One Wareseley II were put into field by Ramsey II. Thomas Baker was economical with 2-12 off seven voers, Ramsey making 172-5.

Wareseley crumbled to 10-3 and although there were solid knocks from Jack Richards (40) and Alejandro Freeman (50) the innings ended 37 runs short.

In Division Two Blunham II slipped to an 89-run loss against Bharat Sports at Alconbury. Sports were all out for 216 after being put into bat. Martin Sadler was the pick of the Blunham batsman with 44 but his side were dismissed for 127 in the 40th over.
