Biggleswade win top of development table tie

Biggleswade Development squeezed home by three wickets in their top of the table clash on Sunday.

Biggleswade’s victory means their points total cannot be passed and the likelihood is the Beds League Development Division will be decided on run rate.

Queen’s Park won the toss but were pegged back as Joe Gauge and Josh Brody-Browne removed the openers. Hamayun Shahid and Ameer Hamza moved the score on before Hamza was removed by Ben Gauge. Shahid fell to James Keller for 54.

Keller and Seth Robinson took three quick wickets before a late stand pushed the score to 165.

Roberts and Robinson got Biggleswade off to a good start before Roberts was caught for 22. Joe Gauge was also removed before Robinson (53) and Ben Gauge took the score past 140.

Bowler Hamza was proving a challenge and removed Charlie Roberts and James and Tom Keller, ending with 5-35. With seven wickets down Queen’s Park were in with a chance, but Ben Gauge (37no) and Mark Gauge steered Biggleswade home.

On Sunday Queen’s Park need to beat Henlow to draw level with Biggleswade.
