Langford batsmen smash double ton partnership

Visitors Bedford started strongly but the innings fell away to 234 all out, Luke Peters and Pete Edwins taking four wickets apiece.

In Division One Old Warden picked up crucial points at the bottom with a win at home to Lutonian.

The visitors elected to bat first but Ben Dove made early in roads, taking the wickets of all top three batsmen. He ended with 3-21 off nine overs as Lutonian were all out for 198.

Mark Brownridge set about the Lutonian bowlers in the reply. The opener carried his bat with an unbeaten 94 as Warden passed the total with four wickets intact.

Henlow gained a measure of revenge over local rivals Clifton II in Division Two.

Following a humbling away defeat on the opening day of the season, Henlow comfortably won the weekend’s return fixture by eight wickets.

The visitors made swift early progress and looked well placed before Wayne Bilcock (4-44 in his eight overs) and Martin Raggett (3-22 in eight overs) curtailed their progress. They were all out for 139 at the start of the 34th over.

Henlow put on 93 for the first wicket to effectively seal the victory – Adrian Crawley fell for 38 but fellow opener Oscar Fas remained unbeaten on 55 as his side won with 10 overs to spare.

Caldecote saw off Sandy in a low-scoring affair in Division Two.

Visitors Sandy opted to bat first but collapsed to 77-9, Ravi Kodikara taking 3-18 from eight overs and two wickets each for Sameem Safi and Sam Oakins.

It didn’t look a big target but Caldecote were soon pegged back to 29-5, Harry Chinn doing the damage with 4-13 off six overs.

But Kodikara’s early 22 was supported by Oakins (13) and Safi (15) to see the home side over the line with three wickets in hand.
