Smith smashes a ton for Biggleswade

Biggleswade were invited to bat and Smith and Adam Dagless reached 63 when Dagless was given out lbw.

The second wicket fell in the 24th over as Adam Lawrence perished for 35. Throughout this Smith was accumulating steadily.

Gauge was bowled for 30, Tom Boyd made a rapid 48 off 26 balls and Smith reached his 100 with a six in the 44th over.

Smith was out in the final over for 108 as Biggleswade closed on 285-5.

When Gauge removed two batsmen in his first three overs all appeared to be going to plan. However the next two batsmen proved mightily effective.

For the first time in the day Biggleswade were under pressure and it showed as a couple of chances were dropped and the odd fielding error crept in.

Soon after Zafar and Jahinger had reached a 150 partnership for the third wicket the former was deceived by Tom Boyd and bowled for 69.

With the returning Gauge removing Jahangir for 77 the life went out of the Hampton innings.

Tom Boyd took a further two wickets, Lawrence got a caught and bowled and Max Smith picked up a wicket as Hampton played out the remaining overs.

Waresley II inflicted a crushing ten wicket defeat on Ickwell in Division One in a match that was over well before tea.

Ickwell batted first and were dismissed in the 28th over for just 88 runs. Harry Fallows was top scorer with 30. Pat Ellerbeck (5-3 from 6.1 overs) quickly ran through the middle and lower order.

Waresley knocked off the runs in just nine overs with Alex Watkiss making 67 not out.

Ickwell II travelled to Kimbolton to play Great Staughton in Division Four and won by five wickets.

The hosts batted first and all the first six batsmen made double figures.

In contrast the last five batsmen all went without scoring as Darren De-Vyott (4-45) picked up three of these wickets and the other two were run outs.

Ewan Wilkinson had the remarkable figures of 1-9 from his ten overs and this wicket came in the last of his overs.

Great Staughton made 183 all out.

A fine innings from Steven Proudman (89 not out, with ten fours and one six) took Ickwell to a comfortable five wicket victory.
