Southill bowling duo dismantle leaders

Ben Wallis was the star batsmen in Park’s innings, making 79 at number three as the side posted a decent 223-9 score.

However no-one could have expected Burghley’s batting to subside so easily.

Six players went for ducks and only one made double figures in their 37 all out score. Two bowlers in exceptional form did all the damage - Jack Good took 6-16 and Chris Watt 4-16.

Ickwell were easily beaten at Hampton. Ickwell chose to bat first but simply couldn’t put enough runs on the board, Ben Fensome top scoring at number seven with 33 in his side’s 134 total.

The writing was on the wall for Ickwell when Hampton opener Andy Beech smashed nine boundaries in 18 balls. He was dismissed for 39 but it didn’t stop the home side passing Ickwell’s score with six wickets intact.

Biggleswade recorded a comfortable eight wicket victory in Division Three.

Ramsey arrived for the fixture with 10 players and, having won the toss, decided to bat. Their innings was punctuated by good performances from a young Biggleswade attack. Luke Ball, almost a veteran on the day, had Wells well caught by James Gauge before Harry Roberts saw Parkins well caught by Adam Lawrence.

Max Smith then produced a beauty to bowl Abrahams and saw O’Donoghue caught by Tom Franklin.

When George Boyd induced an edge to have Wilson caught by Gauge it looked as if an early finish was on the cards. That Ramsey reached 100 was due to their skipper Buddle who made 64 before being bowled by Ball. Ramsey were all out for 135.

In reply an unbeaten stand of 139 between Adam Dagless (74 no) and Franklin (24 no) saw the team home with 25 overs to spare.

In Division Four Ickwell IIs fell 14 runs short in a run chase at home to Great Staughton.

The visitors were all out for 143, with Ickwell’s best bowling figures coming from Thomas Jackson (3-27 off 10 overs), Gerald Ingham (4-31) and Thomas Beaty’s 2-11 off eight overs.

In Ickwell’s reply Tom Winetroube contributed 61 but sadly only one other player reached double figures and the innings closed on 129.
