FA CUP: Potton bow out against Foundrymen on Friday

Three Chronicle County teams in FA Cup action today

Poton United bowed out of the FA Cup 2-1 at the first hurdle last night (Friday) but the men from the The Hollow were far from disgraced against Corby's Premier Division opponents Stewarts & Lloyds.

The Foundrymen took charge and scored after just six minutes when Chris Logan's cross from the right was side-footed past home keeper Aaron Loney by Rob Maddox.

Michael Byrne's lobbed in a in the 24th minute with the luckless Loney helping the ball into the net.

And making it an evening steeper hill to climb for the Division One hosts, their experienced striker Adam Furness was dismissed although Potton came out for the second half and pulled one back thanks to substitute Charlie Barnett whose right wing cross allowed GrahamTibbals to fire into S&L keeper Richard Lavin's top corner for 2-1.

Today (Saturday) Biggleswade United, Stotfold and Langford are in FA Cup action with United hosting Newport Pagnell Town at Second Meadow, the Rokermen at Chalfont St Peter and the Reds at home to Aylesbury United.

Starting their league Southern League campaigns are Arelsey Town who host Beaconsfield SYCOB while Biggleswade Town are away to Aylesbury.
