Arlesey’s lack of firepower up front once again cost them as they lost 2-1 at Egham on Saturday.

The Blues had done enough to get something out of this Southern League Division One Central fixture but only had a late strike to show for their efforts.

With Arel Amu trying his luck with Welling United, Kim Forsythe did a full 90 minutes and along with the whole team worked hard.

Howevever Arlesey fell behind midway through the second half when a move saw the ball headed back and forth across the goal by the big Egham side before Bajram Pashaj finished at close range.

As the Blues pushed on they went further behind with a minute of normal time remaining as an Egham substitute fired a shot that came off the post past the prostrate Bart, back to Richard Pacquette who put the ball in off the other post.

Arlesey pulled a goal back right at the end of normal time as Forsythe spun and hit a good volley that the keeper palmed out to Joe Steele who pushed the ball in.

With a fair amount of injury time due, an amount of unsporting behaviour from the bench area to not keep the ball in play had the desired effect and the ref blew up after four extra minutes to deny Arlesey an equaliser.

They sit fourth bottom in the table, level on points with third from bottom side Aylesbury. They host Fleet on Saturday.
