Blues humbled at basement side North Greenford

Arlesey came crashing down to earth on Saturday with a 3-1 humbling at Southern League Division One Central basement boys North Greenford United.

On a high after beating Rushden & Diamonds in midweek, the Blues were not at the races in North London.

Arlesey started brightly enough as they pushed forward, but found themselved blocked by dogged defending.

On his side’s first attack on 19 minutes the North Greenford forward Connor found himself on his own and he fired the home side into the lead.

In the second period Arlesey again began well and four minutes in Saul Williams tracked across the edge of the area before firing home the equaliser, his first goal for Arlesey.

It looked only a matter of time before Arlesey got their second but it was not to be. Instead from a corner the ball hit Greenford’s Marek on the head and squeezed in.

As the Blues pressed for a leveller they lost possession in midfield and with the defence again seemingly not on the pitch Yala ran into the box and picked his spot for a third.

Arlesey host Ware tomorrow.
