Leverstock had the best of the chances in the first half and Dan Lake saw an effort cleared off the line by Stotfold defender Chris Clarke.

Green looked comfortable, but they fell behind after 21 minutes when Tremayne Charles pounced on a defensive error and fed Nyasha Sagwete, who put the ball into an empty net.

There was another big chance for the hosts in the 29th minute when Chad Pinching’s pass put Lake through on goal again, but he steered his shot inches wide.

Seconds later, Levy were unlucky when a thunderous long-range effort from Lee Gardner rattled the bar.

The second half produced few chances, but five minutes from time Leverstock were thrown a lifeline when Damion Cruickshank was brought down by a clumsy challenge inside the box and Liam Hind stepped up to level the scores.

Stotfold had the chance to retake the lead with a penalty of their own within a minute, but Kieron Jimmy saved well from Charles.

The visitors were not to be denied, though, and Carthy struck in the 92nd minute to win the game for his side.
