Waders only played their final match of the 2014/15 campaign a week ago but manager Chris Nunn has moved quickly to set up his squad for August.

The talented Daniel has been at the Carlsberg Stadium for four years but missed much of last season through injury.

Nunn said: “It was an easy decision for me to make. Craig is without a doubt a very good player. It’s the right time to make him captain, he’s 25, and he knows what the club is about.

“He was injured for most of last season but in the games he played in he was excellent and we really wanted to keep him.”

Daniel takes over from Steve Gentle who has moved on to St Ives Town. Nunn said: “ Steve has been captain for three years, he’s been brilliant and he goes with our best wishes.”

Goalkeeper Ian Brown has stepped up to vice captain while the experienced Gavin Hoyte, who arrived midway through last season, has committed himself to the club who will be playing their third season in the Southern League Premier Division from August.

Meanwhile off the field midfielder Lee Allinson has been appointed assistant manager. Nunn said: “Lee has a lot of energy and motivation, he’s a good lad. He will want to do things properly. He will still be playing, but this is the right time to get more into coaching.”
