With just three games to go the finishing line is in sight after what has been a wonderful, exciting and extremely educational first full season for me since I became director of football at Biggleswade United.

We finally managed to play our twice previously postponed match against a highly rated Hadley, now forced to play four times a week in order to be able to complete their league programme which has been blighted by the vagaries of the English climate.

In the end our young side earned the points thanks to a superb left foot volley from 19-year-old Charlie Joy who had been brought on at half time by manager Cristian Colas in a tactical switch that created more space in midfield and ultimately made the difference.

And on the subject of making the difference, his strike would have been for nothing had it not been for a superb 80th minute save at the other end by our goalkeeper, Tom Wyant.

Aged just 18, Tom is currently on loan to us from MK Dons. His performances for us this season, particularly for one of such tender years, have instilled confidence in his defence and show me that he is made of the right stuff to get where he wants to be in this highly competitive industry.

I would love him to stay with us for one more year, not just for selfish motives, but also so he can gain the valuable playing time he will need if he wants to progress.

Our side are just three games away from leading this club to its highest ever league finish.

Not that it will be easy; the teams we will be facing currently occupy the bottom three places in the table and will all be fighting for their Premier League lives.

Colney Heath come to Second Meadow tomorrow (3pm) before Harefield United visit us on Tuesday night (7:45pm).

On Thursday, May 5 it’s party time with our Gala Presentation night at George’s Hall Bar and Grill with special guests, the Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and Sky Sports Presenter, Kate Abdo.

There will also be an auction of Barcelona shirts signed by Leo Messi and Xavi Hernandez and a Real Madrid shirt signed by Gareth Bale in an event to be hosted by yours truly.

There are 100 tickets available at £15 to include buffet and first drink, from the venue or the club.
