With both the Reds and visitors Harpenden enjoying the perfect playing conditions the game moved from end to end.

Langford settled and played good football, which was rewarded in the 11th minute when Pat Daly scored a great goal – having latched onto a through ball from Callum Stead, he rounded the keeper and slotted home into the empty net.

The game opened up, with both teams pushing forward moved rapidly from one goal area to the other.

Harpenden had a better period of play when Sam Jones played in Tom Collin only to see his shot cleared off of the home team’s line by Ross Scotney.

At the other end Stead and Daly continued to threaten the Harpenden goal. Then after 38 minutes Sam Jones latched onto a long through ball to level for Harpenden.

From the restart the visitors should have scored when Ben Warren headed wide from a central position five yards out.

This SSML Division One fixture was being played at a fast pace but the passing from both sides was sloppy with possession being given away frequently.

Then after 54 minutes a cross from Sam Jones found Charlie Gould in half a yard of space, enabling him to shoot the visitors in front.

Both teams enjoyed periods of possession without threatening to score. Gradually Langford put on the pressure and started to look better going forward.

Their reward was a late goal in the 92nd minute when, following a cross from Ricky Clark, Tyler Ingham drove the ball home.

Langford deservingly earned a draw against one of the division’s expected front runners. Full-time 2-2
