A football fan is set to have the experience of a lifetime after winning the chance to play a match at Wembley Stadium.
Luke Newman, of Planets Way in Biggleswade, will play a full 90-minute match with a mystery football legend acting as his team’s manager.
Luke entered The Vauxhall Big Pitch competition, run by the England team’s sponsor, back in December and then forgot all about it.
And he revealed that he thought it was a joke when he was told he had won the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
He said: “I heard that I’d won on April Fools’ Day. I thought ‘this must be a scam’. I really thought someone was pulling my leg.”
Luke added: “I’m over the moon. It’s been a lifetime ambition to play at Wembley. I’ve played football all my life, apart from the last couple of years, so it was a dream come true.”
The day will see Luke experience the intensity of being involved in a 90 minute 11-a-side match at Wembley followed by post match interviews and presentation.
There will also be a question and answer session with the two managers, who will not be revealed until the teams are taken to their changing rooms.
Winners also receive a special kit and a DVD of the match.
And they can take friends and family with them.
The Dad of three added: “My son is over the moon. My brother has been a ballboy at Wembley, but he’s never played there so he’s very jealous!”
