Potton celebrate seventh place end to UCL season

Potton United held their annual presentation evening in the clubhouse after the final UCL Division One home match of the season.

Chairman, Alan Riley thanked all the sponsors, advertisers, committee members and all those that had helped the club.

He thanked the manager Darren Staniforth for all his efforts, on and off the pitch and praised the team spirit of the players.

He then went on to present his awards: Clubman of the Year, Darren Staniforth and Chairman’s Player of the Year, Luke Harradine.

Manager Darren Staniforth explained there were only narrow margins and although the club finished in a creditable seventh place, with a little more commitment could have been challenging for a promotion place.

Darren had organised a football quiz and the team helped by Bradley Strong were the winners.

He then went on to present the following awards: Leading Goalscorer, Gary Ansell-Carter; Supporters Player of the Year, Shaun Faulkner; Players Player of the Year, Luke Harradine; Manager’s Sportsman of Season, Lee Swain; Manager’s Player of the Year, Luke Harradine.

Captain Calum Forster then thanked the committee for providing such a superb pitch and the excellent hospitality at home matches.

He then presented bouquets of flowers to Pauline Westhorp, Bev Strong and Sue Buxton for providing home hospitality and refreshments and bottles of drinks to Darren Staniforth.

Pre-season training will start in about six weeks time.
