Langford ended their SSML Division One campaign with a 3-1 defeat at Codicote – a result that sees them finish third from bottom.
In a game with a real end of season feel about it last Thursday the 10 men of Langford had the best of the early play in an open game.
Gradually Codicote managed to retain more possession, and with what turned out to be the last kick of the first half Sam James collected the ball from a corner and shot through a crowded area to put Codicote ahead.
The second half saw action swing from end to end. Then on the hour Craig Nield found himself through on goal and shot past the stranded Josh Mason to even the scores.
Within two minutes Codicote attacked down their right flank, the cross hit a defender on the arm from close range and a penalty was awarded.
Up stepped Sam Stephenson to shoot fiercely past Allie Jaward in the Langford goal.
In the 73rd minute Reggie Ross crossed from the right, the ball dropped to Phil Smeaton who shot home Codicote’s third.
The Reds rallied and had a goal disallowed but slipped to defeat.
