Ten man Arlesey beaten by leaders

Southern League Premier

Arlesey Town 0 Leamington 2

Ten-men Arlesey Town were beaten 2-0 by Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division leaders Leamington at the weekend.

After a magnificent team effort from the Arlesey volunteers and committee removed four inches of snow beforehand, the game went ahead.

The turning point came in the 15th minute when Moore went down under a challenge from Shane Blackett, with referee Mr Da Costa awarding a penalty and sending Blackett off, while Matt Dodd netted from the spot.

Arlesey came close to levelling through Drew Roberts, Chris Dillon and Aston Goss, but it was 2-0 on 73 minutes when Moore’s free kick was parried by Nathan Abbey and Lee Chilton fired the rebound through a forest of bodies and into the net.

The Blues travel to Barton Rovers on Tuesday in the Beds Senior Cup quarter-final before hosting St Albans on Saturday.
