They took the lead early on but were then pegged back as their hosts pressed in the second period.

Waders started on the front foot at The Meadow and former Chesham striker Inih Effiong hit the bar in the opening exchanges.

But they were ahead after just four minutes, Craig Daniels’ effort was saved but Max York was on hand to convert the rebound.

However Chesham finished the first half the stronger and they levelled three minutes after the interval, Matty Taylor running on and finishing past Gary Malone.

It was then backs to the wall for the Waders who put in a resilient performance to preserve a point.

Barry Hayles, the 43-year-old former Premier League and Arlesey Town striker, smashed one golden chance over a few minutes from time.

The draw ended Biggleswade’s recent losing stretch in the Southern League Premier Division.

Waders host Stratford Town on Saturday before travelling to Poole Town on Tuesday - the fixture rearranged after being postponed last weekend.

Former Biggleswade U18 striker Kienan Davis was named as a substitute for Premier League side Aston Villa for the first time at the weekend. He was unused in their 2-0 victory over Norwich City.
