Leaders held on home patch

Only goal difference is keeping Blunham ahead in the race for the Premier Division title after they dropped two points at home in a 3-3 draw with Southill Alexander on Saturday.

Elliot West scored twice and Michael Hutton was also on the scoresheet for the leaders but ultimately it was only good enough to earn them a point.

Woburn recorded a stunning 7-1 home victory over Westoning Recreation Club. Matt Holland (3), Alex Ottaway (2), Ben Nicholls and Jake Nicholls on target with Ollie Summers replying for the losers.

Elsewhere, Ric Bulzis (2) plus strikes from Jack Hoogstraten and Chris Prior fired Sharnbrook to a 4-2 victory at AFC Kempston Town for whom Richard Lightfoot and Danny Pilgrim replied.

For Wilshamstead, a goal from Colin Marshall could not prevent them losing 2-1 at Biggleswade United Reserves.

In Division One, leaders Flitwick Town made made it eight straight wins with a 2-0 victory at FC Meppershall and are now 12 points clear at the top. Dean Warren and Dean Conway striking the vital blows.

Second-place Meltis Albion were held to a 2-2 draw at Caldecote Reserves. Charlie Betts' penalty plus a goal from Daniel Webb earning them a share of the spoils.

Bedford Sports Athletic recorded a 7-4 home win over Kempston Hammers Sports. Jonathan Woolf (2), John Reece, Ashley Mead, Paul Nigro, Tony McGovern and Aaron Edwards on target with Jimmy Grandidge, Sean Winconek, Martin Humphries and Steve Walker scoring for the visitors.

Derby day bragging rights belonged to Kempston, who beat AFC Kempston Town Reserves 2-1. Alex Goosby and Ricky Prince on target against a Town reply from Chris Mills.

Elsewhere in the division, Marston Social kept their promotion challenge on course with a 5-2 home win over Blunham Reserves. Daniel Bullen netting twice alongside goals for Ashley Dean, Andy Deacon and Darren Rowlett, while the Blunham replies were scored Carl Warner and Matthew Geaves.

Stevington, meanwhile, slipped to a 7-1 defeat at Sandy.

Division Two action brought about Harpur FC's first away win of the season, 3-1 at Great Barford. Gary Pearson, Lee Meekin and Fabio Cataldo the goalscorers against a home reply from Luke Haverley.

Also winning on the road were Elstow Abbey, 4-1 at Shillington. Dave McCarthy and Adam Flynn both netting twice.

Not quite so lucky were Kempston Royals, who had to settle for a point in a 3-3 draw at Shefford Town. Lorenzo Jordan, Danny Murphy and Andew Palombella all finding the back of the net.

Kings AFC drew by the same 3-3 scoreline at home to Clifton. Lee Morgan, Oliver Plested and Andy Mayes grabbing the goals to earn them a point.

In Division Four, it was a red letter day for Bedford Park Rangers, with only their second win of the season. 2-1 at home over Stewartby Village. Richard Patterson plus a Jimmy Jacob penalty earning the points against a Village reply from Garath O'Brien.

Flitwick Town Reserves, with a goal from Grant Tibbett, drew 1-1 at home against league leaders Sundon Park Rangers.

But, just down the road, Dinamo Flitwick were beaten at home 5-4 by Thurleigh. Strikes from Ben Canning, Nick Stanton, Dan Myers and Kerion Bunyan being outgunned by an own goal plus goals from Steve Pledge, Dan Newton, Sam Queeley and Ben Stock.

For, M& D Oakley it was a 4-2 defeat at Clifton Reserves despite strikes from Nicolo Mattia and Dan Lupton.

In the Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup, Renhold Village claimed themselves a place in the semi-finals, when goals from Michael Luke, Carl Townsend and Pete Neal took them to a 3-2 home extra-time win over Heath Panthers United.

Joining them in the last four are both Marston Shelton Rovers and Bedford Hatters. Rovers, with goals from Xennon Paul, Jim Burraway, Chris Patrickson plus a Lee Dudley penalty were 4-2 winners at Marabese Ceramics, whose replies came via Gary Bottezzi and Denver Donaldson.

Whilst the Hatters were 3-0 home winners over Queens Park Crescents, goals from Tom Redmond, Richard Cook and Chris Fry doing the damage.

In Watson Shield group action, Sharnbrook Reserves needed a 90th minute goal from Darren Wallinger to win 1-0 at home over Kempston Athletic, but for Riseley Sports Reserves it was a 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Stopsley Park. Mark Weekley and Phil Taylor goals failing to save them.

Meanwhile, despite strikes from Ian Cooksley and Dan Channon, Westoning Recreation Club Reserves were beaten 3-2 at home by Wilshamstead Reserves. Rob Tebbut, Mark Kelly and Ross Zeltabrohov netting the vital goals for the visitors.
