Following a fast 10k event four days earlier, Phil Housden ran a controlled race to finish in a very respectable 77mins 58secs.

Chris Clarke decided at the last minute to enter this race, held last Wednesday, even though it was just four days after running the tough Clarendon Marathon.

This did not seem to affect his performance and he finished strongly to record of time of 79mins 33secs, one minute faster than last year

Congratulations to Biggleswade AC’s U13 boys cross-country team who came third at the Chiltern Cross Country League match held at Cassiobury Park near Watford last weekend.

The club’s under 17 girls team also did well and are currently sitting fourth in the league. Hannah Ridley did exceptionally well with a fourth place overall in the U17/Junior ladies race and second place in her age category. Meanwhile Jared Taylor scored valuable points for the team finishing second in his age category.

But it’s not just the juniors who were running well at the weekend. Craig Brown and Paul Davies achieved some superb times at the Great East Run last Sunday.

Out of 3,800 runners Craig and Paul finished in the top 100. Mel Wilkinson also managed to achieve a new personal best time.

And whilst on their club tour to the Cotswolds, 13 members of Biggleswade Athletic Club decided to try out the Forest of Dean Marathon/ Half Marathon/ 10K.

The varied distances were possible owing to the 5K circular route, with some choosing to tackle four laps whilst others opted for two and three laps. However, Monika Molnar decided to give the full marathon distance a go and managed this in an amazing 3hrs 50mins.
