Reds and United win on opening day
... but Rokemen held on their SSML debut
Stotfold's Spartan South Midlands League debut, after crossing over from the United Counties League at the end of last season, saw them earn a point from a 2-2 home draw against Harefield United this afternoon.
The Rokermen went ahead on 35 minutes when Paul Garrett headed in from a Louis Taylor cross but the visitors levelled early in the new half courtesy of Denvor Morris after one of his teammates had been taken to hospital with a broken leg.
Wes Byrne restored Stotfold's lead with a 70th minute bicycle kick only for the Hares to level through Colin Patterson 15 minutes from time.
Langford picked up all three points when they hosted Holmer Green at Forde Park this afternoon thanks to a Gus Stewart strike ten minutes from time.
The Reds went ahead against the run of play thanks to new signing Connor Waite but the visitors were all square in the 38th minute.
But the hosts then found themselves down to ten men after Kane Dougherty was harshly red carded ten minutes into the second half only for Stewart to snatch the winner from close range ten minutes from time.
Biggleswade United were a goal up at half time when they travelled to Kingsbury London Tigers in their league opener this afternoon and it was to end 3-1 in their favour come 4.45pm.
