A fundraising event is set to take place this weekend to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Carping4Heroes will take place at Manor Farm Lakes near Biggleswade and will feature a team match with the Army, RAF, MPGS, civilians and ex-military teams competing for the Carp-Talk title and other trophies.
This year there will be a celebration of the Armed Forces, and will feature fun for all the family! Live band Spicer Acoustic will be performing today and there will also be an auction and team quiz with prizes. Tomorrow there will be trade stands, angling games hosted by Brian Skoyles, a bouncy castle and face painting, tackle swap shop and special guests including Gareth Fareham, Adam Penning, Julian Cundiff, Ian Chillcott, Joe Turnbull, Mark Hogg, Brian Skoyles, Pete Castle and Mark Holmes.
There will also be a ticketed Q&A session hosted by Brian Skoyles featuring two of carp angling’s biggest names: Adam Penning and Gareth Fareham. Tickets cost £5 and include a free barbecue.
And on Sunday there will be a huge raffle and prize giving ceremony.
Aside from the Q&A session the event is free.
Organiser Siman Bangert is a former soldier who was medically discharged in 2004 and has been supported Help for Heroes.
He said: “This year we hope to raise £15,000 from the event and would like to see a big turnout join us to celebrate and support our heroes as well as take part in the various activities we have on offer.
“The event is in it’s fourth year and so far raised over £18,000 for Help for Heroes, with people coming together from all over the country to enjoy what is a fantastic weekend.
