Gardens of wander!

There's nothing the English like more than wandering through gardens, and there's local gardens to stroll round for charity this weekend.

The Firs, a ¼-acre town garden surrounding a Victorian gentleman’s residence is open on Sunday. under the National Gardens School (NGS).

Designed and created from scratch by the owners Mr and Mrs Sutton since 2000 this garden at 33 Bedford Road, Sandy, has many individual features that could be incl into anyone’s garden.

The garden is productive in fruit, flowers, vegetables and features modern sculpture and railway memorabilia.

Money raised from the refreshments will go to the Need Project, providing food parcels in Bedfordshire.

It is open on Sunday from 2-5.30pm, admission £3.50 with children free. Home made teas are available.

Walnut Cottage, at 8 Great North Road, Chawston was once a land settlement comprising a 4-acre smallholding.

Walnut cottage off the A1 now includes a 1-acre cottage garden where over 2,000 species of plants gives great interest.

Rare, exotic and unusual plants abound. There is a large pond, level grass pathsand many young trees and shrubs.

A large glasshouse is used for growing Chinese vegetables. Why not relax in picnic and party zone? Turn off at McDonalds, at end of filling station forecourt turn left where there is off road parking
